We think it is important to work in a sustainable and eco-friendly way. Therefore, we care about:
- A sustainable building
- Working with local products and local businesses
- Taking our social responsibility
The building was transformed from a bank office into a hotel. In this transformation, we have carefully thought about and applied all sorts of durable and eco-friendly measures. Solar panels, LED lighting, using rainwater to flush toilets, re-winning energy from shower draining and a highly advanced heat pump are examples of the measures we took. The hotel itself is built on a natural dune with its own eco-system.
Operating with durability in mind
We separate garbage as much as possible and all of our fresh and biological breakfast products are selected with care and mostly produced in the hotel’s neighborhood. We try to stay away from materials which are not environmentally friendly such as plastic. And when cleaning the rooms, sheets and towels, we use eco-friendly products.
Taking social responsibility
Hotel Bleecker often helps scholars and students with internships. Moreover, we support several local associations.
Hotel Bleecker received the ‘Green Key Gold’ certificate
The Green Key award is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
A Green Key stands for an establishment’s promise to its guests that by opting to stay with such an establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and sustainability level. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits.
We think it is important to be a part of our community and contribute to a better world. Are you interested in our hotel? We’d love to welcome you!
